I've been forgetting to post my miles, sorry. I believe it's about 15 miles since my last update for H&S Co
Friday, March 30, 2012
Question
Is this the most up to date total for the Bravo miles? Our total doesn't seem to accurately showe all of our total miles. Over the past 2 weeks we have over 600 miles that should have been added to the total. I just noticed the overall total has been updated from earlier in the week, but it didn't go up by much.

????
How do you get the miles to show up in the little thermometers?
Do dogs count? Technically they are family and my dog runs and walks everywhere with me!
Military sayings
What are some of your favorite military quotes or sayings? Some of my favorites are:
Behind every strong Marine is an even stronger women who stands by him, supports him, and loves him with all her heart.
Forget prince charming, I have a U.S. Marine.
Love is...trading your pearls for his dog tags.

More miles for Alpha Co!
I want to log 7 miles today for Alpha Co. I walked just a hair over 6 miles at work today according to my pedometer and my hubby walked a mile this morning before he went to work. (I need to get him a pedometer for work since he walks quite a bit during the day as well). Happy walking everyone!
4 miles for H&S
I joined a gym earlier in the month. I knew I needed a good way to work off stress. It is too cold up here in Maine, even though it has been a mild winter so far. I pulled a hamstring muscle about eight months ago, so I walked a half mile and then jogged a half mile until I did four miles. I am hoping to rehab it to be able to do some 5 K's this summer and maybe even a 10K. I am wondering if I wear a pedometer at work does that count? I was thinking about that all day, as I seemed to have been walking all day. Go H&S!
H & S Miles
We joined the gym! WHOO HOOO well since friday we have gone every day and between me and the 2 kids we have walked (eliptical, treadmill, bike, raquetball, aerobics, swimming) 12 miles

BRAVO MILES!
This is for the whole week of Monday, January 16th to Sunday, January 22nd
Tuesday - 4.5 miles
Wednesday - 3 miles
Saturday - 6 miles
Sunday - 4 miles
TOTAL: 17.5 miles
Have a great week everybody! I hope you all get a lot of miles in!
QUESTION: Is there anyway for us to add our own miles to the tracker?
Stepping for Alpha Co!
My hubby and I have walked two miles today for Alpha Co. for a total of 4 miles between the two of us! I'll be wearing my pedometer at work this week too! I plan on picking the farthest patient rooms and hustling up some more miles this week! I hope there are more Alpha parents and loved ones who are going to start walking too.

confused by what equals a mile
I am confused about what equals a mile. In the note from Randi, it was stated that if you walk for 30 minutes it equals a mile. Then it says that if you walk 2,000 steps it equals a mile. I can run 3 miles in 30 minutes, does that equal 3 miles towards Afghanistan or 1 mile? I walked for one hour today 60 minutes. So should I keep track of my miles or the time it took? Thanks.
Did 3 miles walking today for H&S (though it should really count as 6 since I was not only pushing a stroller, but had my 9 mo old in a front carrier the whole time...)
I logged appx 1 mile on my mini stepper last night while reading for H&S

Lelia Dyer H&S company
On January 16th and 17th, I walked for 1/2 hour and did the elliptical machine 1/2 hour each day. So this equals 2 miles.

Let's Get Started!
Hi Ladies, Family, and Friends of 1/8,
Welcome to our Miles To Afghanistan project!
As you can see, this site is still a work in progress, so please give us some time. I know that other units are doing Miles to Afghanistan as well, but here is how 1/8 is going to do it. Let's face it, we do things a little bit differently anyway! To add your own stories, pictures, and miles, e-mail Cassy Chesser at casandra.chesser@gmail.com, and she will send you an invitation to join as an author. If you just want to add your own miles but no pictures or stories, you can leave your mileage in a comment, on any post, without having to register at all. Until we get things up and going please keep track of you own miles. When things are ready, I will make a post on how we will chart all of our miles. We are going to have a little friendly competition between each of the companies to see who can walk the most miles.
So, here are the rules. You can walk, run, or bike your miles. Do any of those activities for half an hour, and that is equal to one mile. You can count your steps if you are one of those who are on your feet all day, and 2000 steps equals one mile. If you swim and play in a pool for 30 minutes, that is a mile. Now I know that some of you live up north, so I have come up with some ways that you can earn your miles. Shoveling snow can count as miles. If you snowblow for 45 minutes that is one mile. If you just got a dusting of snow, then you can either sweep it off the steps or push a little with a shovel for 30 minutes, and then that is a mile. If it is your fourth blizzard in a week, and you have to bend your knees and fling the snow over your shoulder, then doing that for 15 minutes is a mile. Now because I am nice, I am giving those that live in the snow and the cold some ways to earn bonus miles. You can earn 2 bonus miles per day. Way number 1: If you walk outside and its -10 or below out (wind chill does not count) then give yourself an extra mile. Number 2: If its the fifth time you have shoveled out your driveway because the silly snowplow came by again, then give yourself an extra mile. Anyone in your family can walk and help us make our goal, but you can only count their miles if they are doing the activity with you. Don't count miles for your baby in the stroller, but if your child rides their bike while you run, you can count their miles too.
Now with everything we do, mind OPSEC. You guys know the drill now. This is just a fun way to show our guys that we are supporting them while they are gone. So get out there, take pictures, and log those miles -- we have a long way to go!!
Remember to email Cassy so you can post stories and pictures. Also, feel free to let me know in the comments what you need to keep you motivated to get out and walk.
Leave me some love in the comments! Shay
